People First of Boone County‘s annual Walk & Roll-A-Thon is a free event open to people of all ages and abilities to help raise awareness for People First and National Disability Employment Awareness month. Join us on on Saturday, October 13 starting at 2 p.m. at Stephens Lake Park. Walk or roll around beautiful Stephens Lake and then enjoy some refreshments. Participants will receive a free water bottle and have the chance to win a door prize, too.
This is the third year People First of Boone County, a local grass-roots advocacy group, has hosted the event. The Walk & Roll-A-Thon is held on accessible pathways in Columbia for the purpose of including everyone, with any means of mobility. Several participants used walkers and wheelchairs along a scenic pathway circling the lake at Stephens Park. “Last year’s event was a success,” says Katie Kinder – who came up with the idea for it, three years ago. “Twice as many people were at our 2nd annual. We hope it will continue to grow.”
Download a flyer and watch the BCFR Facebook page for updates on the event and how to register.
