As the agency continues serving more and more individuals and families, the staff continues to grow, and we’re bursting at the seams! As you may have heard from recent news coverage, agency staff members are doubled and tripled up in shared office space. Anticipating future growth, the Board of Directors has been deliberating on how to accommodate it and strategically planning for the new office space to meet BCFR’s needs.
After much consideration about adding on or building new office space at its current location, for many reasons including affordability, logistics including traffic and parking, and disruption of agency operations, the Board ultimately decided to seek a new building site. The new site on West Ash Street will be on a bus route, will have ample parking, and refreshingly, plenty of office space for the growing staff. For persons served and their families and other community partners, there will be enhanced accessibility features, and space for large or small public and private meetings.
The projected timeline for relocation is summer 2020. We will share updates on progress in future newsletters. We are very excited about the opportunity to have a new office building that will meet our agency’s growing needs, allow us to serve more people, and help us to continue to support persons with developmental disabilities to thrive in the community, connect with others and achieve their personal goals.
