D.L. Gladbach has worked for Boone County Family Resources for more than 20 years. It all started when his wife Judy Gladbach, a recent BCFR Life & Work Connections retiree, was working in BCFR Supported Living. Judy enlisted the help of her husband to do odd jobs around the site because, as D.L. said, “I didn’t have a second job at the time.” A board member saw D.L. working and asked him if he was getting paid. Next thing he knew, the Director of Supported Living offered D.L. a job. D.L. said his first official duty was to set up a large table and counter top in the main office reception areas. “I guess it worked out pretty good…they kept giving me more jobs.”
Twenty years later, D.L. still works part-time as the general maintenance technician for the agency making repairs and assisting with whatever is needed. He sat down for an interview to discuss his time with BCFR.
Q: What is one favorite and least favorite thing about your job?

Q: How long have you been married to Judy?
A: She’s put up with me for 43 years.
