New Website Design

The new look is what is called a “responsive website design,” which means it automatically adjusts to be viewed appropriately in whatever device you are using to view it. “We’ve noticed that more and more users were viewing our website with their smart phones and tablets,” says Robyn Kaufman, Executive Director at BCFR. “This new responsive design will make our website more accessible for more people.”

One of the new features of the site is a Provider Directory which displays all the providers who contract with the agency for some of the services offered. “The Provider Directory will help families have more choice in who they work with for certain services like occupational, speech or physical therapies, among other services,” says Robyn. “The Directory also allows our contracted providers to include information about their availability and additional details about their business.”

The Assistive Technology Exchange Program (ATEP) has a whole new look as well. The online catalog of recycled durable medical equipment now features photos of each item making it easier for users to find what they are looking for in the inventory. “You can sort the catalog by the type of item you are looking for, or you can just type a keyword like ‘walkers’ into the search field to see all the walkers in the inventory,” says Robyn. “We think it will be more efficient and helpful to those who utilize ATEP, such as therapists and family members – especially since they can now access it on the go.”

The site also features a new and improved calendar of events and an online application process for people seeking employment with the agency. Applicants can visit our Careers page, select the listed job they are interested and follow the steps to load a cover letter and resume to streamline the application process.

BCFR worked with local web developers Delta Systems Group, who have won numerous awards for their website development projects. The project was opened for bids in early 2015 and awarded to Delta who began work on the new design immediately. “We looked at this project as a way to improve our online presence by making our site more accessible and usable,” says Robyn. “Delta helped us incorporate our new agency branding as well as add some new features we hope people will find useful.”
