A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was held on October 30 to commemorate the completion of Boone Point Central, the second of two apartment buildings in our community constructed by Boone County Special Needs Affordable Housing, LP (BCSNAH). Boone Point Central is located within the historic North Village neighborhood and is a two-story building with 13 apartments, four of which are fully accessible. The building includes energy efficient appliances, shared laundry, patios, common areas, secure building access, pedestrian-friendly access and is conveniently located near downtown Columbia. One new tenant spoke about her excitement moving into her new one-bedroom apartment and the benefit of finding an affordable apartment. Another new tenant emphasized the significant need for affordable accessible housing.

Representatives from Boone County Family Resources, North Star Housing, Missouri Housing Development Commission, Midwest Housing Equity Group, Sugar Creek Capital, and Central Bank of Boone County attended the celebration and were recognized for their efforts in making the dream of this affordable, accessible apartment project a reality. Other guests included local, state and federal legislators and public officials.

Boone Point South apartments, located in southwest Columbia, are within the Cedar Lake subdivision. The single-story building has 13 one-bedroom apartments and two two-bedroom apartments, of which four are fully accessible. The building has many of the same amenities as Boone Point Central with Cedar Lake Association member privileges.

Tenants of Boone Point apartments include adults with a disability who live on their own with or without support, small families that include a child with a disability and other persons with special needs as defined by the Missouri Housing Development Commission.
