For many years, BCFR has entered a team in the annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Missouri.  Every winter, some brave and dedicated staff bear the icy water and arctic temperatures to raise money for Special Olympics Missouri. Similar events are held throughout the state and the country.

What exactly is the Polar Plunge? According to Special Olympics Missouri: “This “unbearable” event is a unique opportunity to show your bravery as you support local Special Olympics athletes by plunging into the frigid winter waters… This one-of-a-kind event promises a fun atmosphere complete with music, crazy costumes and lasting memories for everyone!”

Columbia’s Polar Plunge is scheduled for March 4th at Bass Pro Shops Lake.  Proceeds from the Polar Plunge allow Special Olympics Missouri to provide sports opportunities year-round for people with intellectual disabilities of all ages.
