Janet grew up in Boone County and attended the University of Missouri, earning several degrees, including her JD and LLM in Alternative Dispute Resolution. She served as an Assistant Public Defender in Missouri for almost 25 years before being elected as Boone County’s Northern District Commissioner in 2012, a position she has held since that time. She is an Arbitrator for FINRA and a member of the State Judicial Finance Commission, having been appointed by the Missouri Supreme Court. She is Vice Chair of the Justice & Public Safety Committee of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and Chair of the Missouri Association of Counties (MAC) Steering Committee on Justice, Policing & Mental Health.
