Don Catlett

After working high school summers at Woodhaven Learning Center in Columbia, Missouri, Don graduated from Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO with a B.S.E. in Elementary Education and qualified for a certificate in Special Education. Upon graduating, Don worked in the juvenile justice system then went to law school at the University of Missouri. Don spent his career working in the criminal justice field representing many clients who struggled with developmental disabilities and mental health issues. Don’s work with the Missouri Public Defender system has taken him to over 75 counties, all 3 Court’s of Appeal and the Missouri Supreme Court representing all level of criminal charges. Don was active in lobbying, testifying and was invited to be present for the governor’s signing of a State exemption from the death penalty for the developmentally disabled. Don is an avid poker player and devoted fan of Mizzou sports and the KC Chiefs. Now retired, he can often be found providing daycare for his perfect granddaughter.
