Become a Caregiver

Caregivers Hired by Families

Our Home-based Support Services (HBSS) program reimburses families for wages they pay household employees to care for loved ones with a developmental disability. Caregivers may assist in a broad range of activities, often including everyday tasks like dressing, eating and exercising, recreation, and special medical, learning or behavioral support. Specific tasks are determined by the family members who direct all aspects of care, including hiring, training, scheduling and supervising caregivers. Caregiving positions are usually part time with flexible hours.

Caregivers whose wages are reimbursed through Boone County Family Resources are not employed by Boone County Family Resources; they are employed directly by the families they work for.

Caregivers must be over 18 years old and are not eligible for reimbursement if they:

• Are an immediate family member of the person receiving services
• Receive HBSS for their own family member
• Provide other services simultaneously
• Work for BCFR in any capacity

If you are interested in being contacted by family members participating in the HBSS program, please consider listing your information in the Caregiver Directory.
