OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

 

DEFINITION

 

Service is provided to address the functional needs of an individual related to adaptive development and recreation, and sensory, motor, and postural development.  These services are designed to improve the individual’s functional ability to perform tasks in home, school, employment, and community settings.  Individual therapy is designed to prevent or minimize impairment, delay in development, or loss of functional ability.  Training or technical assistance regarding treatment or use of adaptive equipment may be provided for:

 

            1.  an individual with a disability and their caregiver

            2.  professionals actively providing services to the eligible individual, or

                        3.  employers of eligible individuals

 

PROVIDER

 

The provider must possess a bachelor's degree in O.T. and be certified by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
